Gold Parrots

2003 this is our remaining Parrot fish, he is about 7 inches long and 2 inches wide, he lives in a 32 gallon aquarium with an 8 inch Plecostomus and 3 Corydoras catfish. The tank is lit by one 40 watt incandescent bulb about 3 inches from the surface. There is about 2.5 inches of gravel and the tank is not filtered but a small Fluval in tank filter just circulates the water. The tank is planted with Amazon Sword plants, Java Ferns, Val, Java Moss and some Cryptos.

the Parrots always have a happy grin 2002

Parrot fish are not natural to the world, they were created in a lab by combining two species of fish genetics in one egg. When we first got these fish they were a green brown colour with no hint of gold. After about three months one started to develop some yellow spots and then so did the others. They developed into beautiful fish but once they became sexually mature they could not be kept together. After two years we have one parrot left who is living happily in a tank full of Rams that are 1/10 his size.
