Social Housing in Action (Lethbridge)

Stakeholder Planning Meeting
February 4, 2005

SHIA so Far - graphic mural
The Introductory Mural used to help tell the story of SHIA

The Social Housing in Action group or SHIA formed to take action on social housing in the Lethbridge area. They developed a plan of action for the first years and accomplished a great deal, but there was more to accomplish! Laurie and Robert Benn were asked to help facilitate the participating organisational representatives in a renewal of the housing plan.

To honour the work done to date and help all the participants understand the progress made so far, Rob and Laurie built an introduction mural illustrating the history and accomplishments of the organization to date. This graphic worked well as prop to help tell the story of SHIA.

Once everyone was brought on to the same page by the introduction mural Laurie and Rob used their graphic facilitation, COGS and World Cafe processes to help the group discuss the current needs for social housing in Lethbridge and then plan for the future.

All the murals and recording made during the workshop were digitally photographed and published in a report of the days activities. The introductory mural was laminated and is still being used to tell the story of SHIA to potential Stakeholders and interested comunity members.
